Seminar Nasional BIPA adalah forum akademik yang mempertemukan para pengajar, peneliti, pemerhati, serta pemangku kebijakan dalam bidang pengajaran Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) dari seluruh Indonesia. Seminar ini bertujuan membahas isu-isu terkini, tantangan, inovasi, serta strategi dalam pengembangan dan internasionalisasi bahasa Indonesia melalui program BIPA. 

Kegiatan ini meliputi penyampaian makalah utama (keynote speech), presentasi hasil penelitian dan praktik baik, dan diskusi panel. Tema besar yang diangkat pada kegiatan ini yakni Diplomasi Bahasa dan Budaya melalui BIPA dengan tujuh sub tema diantaranya :

1. BIPA sebagai Pengajaran Bahasa Asing
2. Inovasi dan Tantangan dalam Pengajaran BIPA Era Global
3. Strategi dalam Pengajaran Bahasa
4. Transformasi Digital dalam Pengajaran Bahasa
5. Membangun Jejaring Global dalam Pengajaran Bahasa dan Budaya Indonesia
6. Kearifan Lokal dalam Pengajaran Bahasa
7. Diplomasi Antarbangsa melalui Bahasa dan Budaya

Keberadaan Seminar Nasional BIPA 2025 oleh Lembaga BIPA UMSU diharapkan menjadi wadah pertukaran gagasan dan pengalaman yang memperkaya praktik pengajaran BIPA sekaligus memperkokoh posisi bahasa Indonesia di dunia internasional. Seminar ini juga menjadi ajang apresiasi dan motivasi bagi para pengajar dan pegiat BIPA untuk terus meningkatkan kompetensi dan kontribusinya

The English Education Study Program, situated at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), aims to be distinguished in the development of knowledge, technology, professionalism, and the character of human resources in the field of English Education.Its primary objective is to produce highly competent graduates who excel in teaching English, conducting research and community service, and exhibiting personality. The program strives to be a source of creativity, innovation, and utility for the education and language communities, as well as the general public, with a significant impact on improving the quality of human resources for the 5.0 industrial revolution era, especially for educators and faculty members. To achieve its stated vision, mission, and objectives, the English Language Education Study Program recognizes the need for innovative and creative initiatives. Along with curriculum updates and enhanced teaching quality, the program seeks to foster increased collaboration and implement academic activities such as conferences, seminars, and workshops. In line with this approach, the English Language Education Study Program intends to host The Annual Business Meeting of APSPBI & International Conference on English Teaching and Linguistics (ICo-ETLin) in conjunction with the Central Association of English Education Study Programs (APSPBI). This annual event is a significant undertaking, carried out regularly with participation from English Education Study Programs across Indonesian universities that are members of the APSPBI. The English Education Study Program of UMSU has been chosen to host the conference in 2023, demonstrating the program's trust and capabilities in carrying out this prestigious event..
